Fruit Cobbler

2 cups fresh peaches, sliced, or 1 large can peaches, drained (can use any type fruit you desire-blackberries, blueberries, apples, etc) I used fresh peaches
3/4 cups flour
3/4 cups milk
1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 stick butter or margarine
Pinch of salt

Heat oven to 350. In a bowl, combine the peaches and 3/4 cup sugar; mix well and set aside. Put butter into deep baking dish; set in oven to melt. Combine 1/2-cup sugar with the remaining ingredients except for the peaches, to make the batter. Remove the pan with melted butter from oven. Pour in batter; don't stir. Top with peaches; don't stir, the batter will rise. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm or cold.
